Which cdrom?

The live cd (Desktop) has a small repository on it which contains
build-essential, the linux-headers and a few other tools, but not any
other package.  The alternate cd contains all of the ubuntu-desktop
dependencies as deb packages and you can add it as a repository and
expect to install the desktop packages from it..
