Don't :) 

Ubuntu and Debian are not in sync. and you are likely to have
major problems unless you know quite a bit about which Debian packages are
likely to "work". Debian Sarge is the "stable" branch of Debian and is
quite a bit behind Ubuntu in almost every area in terms of the packages
and versions.

I suggest that if you need to ask, it would be much wiser for you either to
install and use Debian, or to install and use Ubuntu, and stick to Ubuntu
packages for the right version of each distro.
