Why is adding a new Ubuntu PC to an existing LAN such a pain?

Excuse me for lammer question.
When I`m loging in the gnome, i recived a mesage "greater aplication is
crashed".
I can`t find the problem.
I has chanched the loging window, but mesage i apiaring still.
