Installation HOWTOs: Where to find?

[The Master of Disaster]

Anybody know of some good installation HOWTOs that_are_current?
I've Googled it a few times but all I find are ones from around the year
2000.
I especially need info on partitioning my HD, on my older model Dell laptop
and my desktop.
