IMHO, I have not had any problems with the Automatix program installation
procedures (Add/Remove) and this is with 9 boxes. You can hose up your
computer; granted that, but in the same regard, you can do that with your
default repositories pretty easily too. It all comes down to reading your
specific package(s) and making sure that you understand what you are doing.

« OPEN Source » there articles concerning the product on the WIKI site.
Most of what's in Automatix and EasyUbuntu do not have 100% open source
programs and if you are a true die hard then it's definitely not for you.
As an example, the various open source flash programs available for Linux
locks up on a lot of websites or will not display the content, Especially
AMD64 versions where I've had really good luck with running the 32bit flash9
inside of the 32bit swiftfox provided by automatix inside of my AMD64 boxes.
Yes, I can setup a 32bit chroot ; it just takes awhile on 5 boxes and when
there is a painless non-losing hair script that's easy. It makes life very
comfy and I can save a few more strands of hair :) .

installation. If you read help.ubuntu.com you'll find that there's
nothing automatix might do for you that you can't do yourself.
I totally agree with this. If you are just starting out and want to learn;
go this route first and learn your PC internals and file placements. Now if
you are impatient, do not have time or have a number of boxes to install it
on then there are alternatives out there, as mentioned with this thread;
Just research on what you are doing first.
