system >administration >networking..shows nothing

I've somehow horked up what was an otherwise working wireless
networking setup by trying to fine tune it. Now system >administration
> networking..shows nothing at all.  I get the spinning icon but the
admin window that once was..is no longer :( I've tried getting the
card working via iwconfig, but I'm missing a setting that was
previously auto detected. Further, I'm uncertain where to simply
activate the card again.  Many thanks!
