Ubuntu is not working in PIII, 256MB SD RAM, 1.3GHz

[Just Do it]

Ubuntu is not working in PIII, 256MB SD RAM(2 stick), 1.3GHz
First I try to install from desktop CD..
it is giving me Buffer I/O error....

When I try to install from alternate CD...
there is some problem during installation..so installation fails...

Could able to install Xubuntu & Ubuntu Server Edition...

Please help!!!
