This is mounted by Linux Restricted Modules (lrm).  A bit more
information if you look at the package
"linux-restricted-modules-common" or if you read the initialisation
file "/etc/default/linux-restricted-modules-common".

"lrm" appears to have changed name to "tmpfs" in Edgy.
