Possible Syntax Error "interfaces" (Ubuntu 6.10)

You are right (checked before too) man interfaces doesn't use this  
syntax as it seemes but a short google lead me to this http:// 
www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-mini/IP-Alias.html which uses the syntax.

Still I prefer the the mapping syntax in interfaces since I keep with  
debian based distros (if I can) otherwise I try to use the  
distribution internal tools and syntax.

anyway posted it from what i remembered, hence the "if i remember  
correctly"...
