For me that smells like a driver bug (kernel related). Anyone reading
this and can make a suggestion if mike should file a bugreport against
his kernel?

I don't really know what's wrong here, the only time I had something
vaguely similar was a broken USB cable connecting a HUB to the
motherboard, but that's along time past.

I would suggest filing a bug report against your kernel with as much
info as possible, i.e. output of lshw etc.

Or am I missing something?
