Netgear WG511T (Atheros) pcmcia card can't associate with wireless AP

Hello all, I just bought a Netgear WG511T pcmcia card
(http://www.netgear.com/Products/Adapters/SuperGWirelessAdapters/WG511T.aspx?detail=Specifications
) and I can't get it to associate with a wireless access point. I'm not
sure what's wrong, but here's what I've done so far (I'm using Ubuntu
6.10Edgy Eft):

I followed the instructions for setting up the MadWifi drivers here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=38972&page=1&pp=10 for this
Atheros-based card. The ath0 interface appears under
system->administration->networking and iwconfig. Digging through earlier
ubuntu-users posts, I found the command iwpriv ath0 authmode 2 which I
tried, but that didn't seem to make the card work. Also, when I try and run
dhclient ah0 on the terminal, it spits out a "wifi0: unknown hardware
address type 801" twice before it does anything. It also does this
when I dhclient
eth1 (sucessfully).

I know it's not a problem with my router (linksys WRT54GL running dd-wrt
firmware) because I can associate to it with the other wireless interface in
my laptop, an intel centrino ipw2100. (This is not a problem, having 2
wireless interfaces in the same laptop, or having them connected to the same
wireless ap, right?) The centrino card is a 802.11b card and the Netgear
is a 802.11g.

Here's my iwconfig output:

root at edgylap:/# iwconfig
