IDE disks plus SCSI tape drive

I have been using Ubuntu 6.10 on a Petium-4 machine with an IDE hard
drive. I have a spare SCSI interface card (Adaptec 2940) and an
external 4mm tape drive. Is there a way to use both IDE and SCSI
simultaneously? I'd like to use the tape drive for backups, etc.
Suggestions are appreciated.

Yuelin Li.
