ATI Driver

I have ati radeon xpress 200m and it works fine, you might want to clean up what easyubuntu did and install the fglrx binaries from the repos. Mine worked find under the mesa drivers but I didn't have 3d acceleration and I wanted it. I think there is a howto on ubuntuguide.org   But if you've already tried that I have no idea what your problem may be.
