IMHO, that would not be a better look and feel. I actually prefer to have
less layers for menus. I don't bother using the Kmenu, but install each of
the submenus on my panel, which gives me seven different menus of one level
to find the $DESIRED application.

I would like less layers, more simplicity while still retaining the
configurability.
