DNQs: SMP and package list.

Hi folks!

DNQ = Dumb Newbie Questions.

I'm an Ubuntu newcomer, and pretty much a Linux newbie too. I've just
installed a couple of Dapper LAMP servers, and have added things like
SSH and Samba (the latter of which I have still to figure out
how to set up properly). I'm very pleased with things so far...

However, both installs have been on dual processor machines, so I need
to install SMP kernels to get the best out of them - can you advise on
the best way to go about this?

Can you also tell me where to find a fairly easily readable list of
packages available to the APT? Such a list would no doubt answer
question one, too... :)
