Well,
I have a problem related in that I used these instructions to install
compiz
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Xgl-Compiz-Dapper

I did them backwards to remove it. However now when I log in I get all
the way to desktop, then the screen goes black and I get a command line. 10
seconds later I get the gdm login screen again. I have to select the
troubleshooting gnome session to be able to log in without it doing that
over and over and over.
