Video Capture. Which hardware to choose.

Can anyone suggest video capture hardware which works under Ubuntu?
Preferably:

USB
Minimal messing around with drivers and kernel builds
Low cost
Works under Dapper

I don't need TV or digital, although they would be nice

I've checked out the V4l Wiki, and can't see any drivers for recent devices. 
It seems the rate of obsolesence in the manufacturer's product list is 
out-stripping the programmer's ability to write drivers. But the habit of the 
manufacturers to sell the boxes under a different name than the name of the 
included card (eg Pinnacle "Dazzle" ships with the "DVC 1xx" device) may be 
confusing the issue.
