CPU Fan does not switch-off

I recently switched from debian etch to ubuntu Edgy.
Everything seems to work perfectly fine (autodetect), except one problem.
My CPU fan, once it starts, does not switch-off.
The fan switches off fine in Windows-XP. Was wondering if anyone faced this
problem and could suggest solutions or debugging tips.

here's some helpfull informations :
