Namazu is a real bone crusher for indexing. It works in two stages. The first
stage "mknmz" is an index builder of files residing in any depth of
directories, and in various formats. The second stage "namazu" is the query,
which can be a single word or a phrase.
As an example: I built an index of the " /usr/share/ " which took a full day
to build. After which periodic updates where performed. Then, any "term"
or "word" or "phrase" appearing in any " manual ", " howto ", " readme "
pertaining to linux, or the release, or applications was quickly accessable.
The current version also works with the Japanese character set. I suspect
with a little support it could be extended to all character sets.

Oh by the way; Namazu2 says you cannot:
     * Search files in other machines.
    * Use for a HTTP server that has 1,000,000 hits per day.
Have fun
Tom
