(gutsy) openoffice won't start

On a fresh install of 7.10 Openoffice refuses to start (splash screen
pops up for 2-3 seconds and then disappears)...I've tried a few
suggestions, uninstalled, reinstalled etc but no luck...it works fine on
an updated partition but not this one

...anyone have an idea or a similar problem
