AMD 64 bit support in ubuntu

I recently successfully installed Gutsy on a machine with an AMD
64-bit Athlon CPU. I used the alternative CD because of LVM and
followed most defaults during installation.

On firefox, I have flash-plugin (no problem with youtube.com),
although I have not tried many other multimedia plugins (for example,
don't know about Microsoft-specific movies). The only problem I
encountered was java-plugin. In the end I had to install Sun-java
into /usr/local/, and icedtea-java7-jre in the default location.

Yuelin.

   Hello,

   On a 64 bit AMD processor based system, are there any limitations on
   installing the 64 bit Ubuntu version in terms of availability of
   packages (specially multimedia)? In other words, are there any
   relatively common packages which are not compiled for 64 bit version?

   I am going to download Gutsy DVD for this. If there is no difference at
   all, I will just go for the 64 bit version, else for the 32 bit version.

   thanks,
   ->HS
