Firefox waving when moving the page up and down

Possible, that it was the video card driver, when I reinstalled I didn't
change the driver back to Nvidia, but the computer had been working with the
VESA driver before with the same Nvidia card. And now with Ubuntu 7.10 it
shoud be working with the VESA driver too, I didn't change anything yet,
just trying to reinstall the programs and connect to my son computer to get
my documents back. So I am not sure that the driver is off importance for
this card since it is working with the VESA or nv driver. I didn't see any
difference at all and I tried the two drivers before I reinstalled.
The only difference was that I installed the card after the system, change
the driver to Nvidia and later restore the old setting(Vesa). Yesterday I
tried to install with the Nvidia card in. It may have cause the problem. (I
can't install Ubuntu 6.10 on my son or mother laptop but the version
7.10worked without any trouble)
I guess the last version of Ubuntu had fixed the problems with some video
card drivers. At least for the non professional users, so a big thanks for
that.
Next time I'll reinstall, I'll take the video card off to see if it does it
again or not.
And to answer the question I didn't check if the desktop effect were on
since that was the 6.10 DVD and installation that were messing up and that
the computer is now working with 7.10 without trouble. I just wanted to know
why this happened because I installed this version on my computer without
trouble before and I didn't understand why the DVD was also doing it.
When I will reinstall I will check it too, but as long as I don't break
something while I am learning to use the system I will use 7.10.
I was working on a server and it apparently messed up my dvd burner, it
ejected the discs instead of burning it, before that I couldn't watch dvd
movies anymore, and there was a lot of others little troubles, the last one
being that I couldn't use my internet connection anymore, my computer was
using it by itself, since I think what I had been doing may have been the
cause of all troubles I just reinstalled. I'm sure that will happen again
until I understand completely what I am doing, no big problems, just a
learning curve. The good thing is I don't have too much trouble to install
and make everything work now.
Thank for your answers
Meg
