A crashed problem after update

Hi all,
       Ubuntu 7.10: After a routine update , the Firefox ,and Synaptic
crashed when opened . So I use "apt-get install kbuntu-desktop" in purpose
to check the problems .
       In KED the firefox and Synatic are all normal to run .When using
Synatic in KDE ,I found the last updating history .Here it is:

    I tried to use " apt-get --reinstall " all of these , but after all done
,when returning to Gnome , it happend as before .
    So why did these crash happen after a routine update?And how to solve
this ?
