The profile keyword will cause a new "readahead-list" to be built
containing all of the programs on disk which should be pre-fetched to
speed up the boot process. The one which is on your machine by default
is the list of stuff on the developers machines, which probably don't
reflect your pre-fetch list very well unless you're an Ubunu
developer/packager.

If you see the "readahead-list" on your second boot is considerably
larger now, and your boot time has been reduced by 3 seconds. It's not
much, admittedly, but overall throughput it up slightly and you no
longer have that disk-idle phase at 22 seconds and around 44-46
seconds.
It would be useful to load both of these png's into gimp (in seperate
layers) and overlay them. I can't do this myself as I'm at work...
