Run this command..
#Dpkg-stateoverride --update --add root plugdev 4777 /usr/bin/pmount
#Dpkg-stateoverride --update --add root plugdev 4777 /usr/bin/pumount
These gives permission to RWX to devices mount with pmount/pumount
(executable for flash drive mount)
Or...
After plugging your flash drive in ...
Chmod go+rw /dev/sdd#
Cheers
George

Subject: USB drive permissions: NEWBIE
NEW TO UBUNTU: My USB drive mounts with root permissions. I can read
but cannot write. I have lost the list messages that earlier addressed
how to mount the USB drive as RW with permissions to user.
Please inform me as to how to mount the USB drive (WDPASSPORT) with RW
to the users group or to my username, then, if possible, how to fix the
automounter to mount this way. The drive works fine in Windows. Format
is FAT32.
Please tolerate this loss. The messages are on another Ubuntu 7.07 that
will not boot (subject of a subsequent email).
