Postfix, Mutt And No Root Mail?

Did you configure postfix for Maildir instead of Mbox?

If not, check on that file, (/var/mail/<user>) (I'm assuming in this 
case, the file path actually contains your username instead of <user>). 
  Make certain it exists and does not have permission issues.
