Someone should update that site, then.  iPodder died years ago.  It
transformed to Juice, with a promise to update the Linux version.  After
over a year of promising a Linux version, Juice gave up and now points you
to other software.  CastPodder upgraded iPodder for years, then the
developer gave up on that as well.

I use Amarok regularly and it does a good job with podcasts, at least
audio-only podcasts.

Well, it can download video podcasts, just as well, but it can't play them.
But if you are syncing to your iPod, that doesn't matter.

In fact, Amarok will sync with your iPod quite nicely as well.  You may not
need gtkpod at all.
