Need help to launch java app

I have installed java and it was working. I have been using it to use the
espn mock draft.

The result of cat /var/log/dpkg.log | grep 'status installed'

2007-08-16 20:49:50 status installed sun-java6-bin 6-00-0ubuntu1~edgy1
2007-08-16 20:49:51 status installed sun-java6-plugin 6-00-0ubuntu1~edgy1
2007-08-16 20:49:52 status installed sun-java6-jre 6-00-0ubuntu1~edgy1

A few days later it stopped working. When I try to start the mock draft
java starts up and begins to load the app when a message box comes up and
says "Unable to launch application" . The "test java" app does work and
the box says success.

I did do an update about that time and thought one of the updated files
may be causing the problem. These are the only update that look to *me* to
be even remotely relevant and I downgraded them.

2007-08-22 08:55:03 status installed libjasper-1.701-1
1.701.0-2ubuntu0.6.10
2007-08-22 08:55:03 status installed libjasper-runtime
1.701.0-2ubuntu0.6.10
They were downgraded to:
2007-08-25 08:47:22 status installed libjasper-runtime 1.701.0-2
2007-08-25 08:52:29 status installed libjasper-1.701-1 1.701.0-2

The other files are related to konqueror, kde, and
linux-restricted-modules. I can post the complete list from the date of
java install to present if needed.

How do I get the espn mock draft to work again? Apparently java is ok
since the "test java" sees no problem.

Thanks for any help
