Installing a Debian etch libc6 is a *very bad idea* :-) libc6 is a
fundamental library underpinning for practically *everything* - you will
break your system spectacularly.  Also, installing libc6 to the Desktop
( root's desktop ?? Some weirdly configured user's Desktop appearing
under /root ??) doesn't make any sense...

I'm having serious trouble understanding what you are trying to do, not to
mention why you would have a user's name directory under /root ... and so
on.

Perhaps you don't quite understand how the filesystem hierarchy works ?
