mii-tool doesn't seem to be reporting the correct port speed

i have a feisty box with eth0 which is using the e1000 driver.

when i run
sudo mii-tool eth0
it reports back

eth0: negotiated 100baseTx-FD, link ok

but the SWITCH it is connected to reports that it's connected at 1000Mbps.

so i checked the dmesg and i this is what i get

$ dmesg |grep eth0
[   50.113418] e1000: eth0: e1000_probe: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection
[   53.063759] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
[   53.216473] e1000: eth0: e1000_watchdog: NIC Link is Up 1000 Mbps Full Duplex
[   53.219110] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
[   63.649570] eth0: no IPv6 routers present

so i am thinking that mii-tool is not reporting the proper speed
is there a way to check if the interface is actually connected at 1000Mbps?

TIA,
Tomoki
