Not pretty but pdf2ps, pstops (or ps2ps) and ps2pdf could be combined in
a pipe. 
OR 
kpdf has an option to "Print selected pages" and a pseudo-queue for
print to pdf (Not sure if there's a gnome equivalent, or if acroread can
access pseudo-queues).
