Hi,
vmware works very well with 1 GB of Ram.
Even with 512 MB I have very good experiences when windows and Linux use
256 MB each, or when I run Linux with 256 MB and two times windows with
128 MB. Surely windows with 128MB is not exactly snappy and this is
definitely not an option for the addipose vista.
If your windows apps work with wine, I would choose wine because
-basically you do not need a windows license,
-you do not need to install a full blown windows inside vmware/virtual
box and
-to run your app, you do not need to firstly boot your windows inside
your virtual environment.
For wine compatibility issues, have a look around here:

Also, soemthing like "+myappsname +wine" in google usually helps very well.
Should you be out of luck and your apps do not work with wine then you
need to go the virtualbox/vmware route, anyway.
kind regards
Eberhard
