The reason your system is insecure is that most people don't need the
kind of security you are talking about. If someone gets at my PC then
they have access to all the expensive stuff in my house so that's more
of a security concern right now.

Of course if the data on the machine is highly valuable then you would
use some kind of encryption then they can write what they like to the
drive, it ain't going to help!*

The security problem with Windows is they don't need to break into
your house to get at your PC. All they need is your IP address and one
of the many tools that will automatically hack into your machine
remotely.

* technically if they could change the unencrypted code to install a
trojan once you provide the decryption key, but that would require you
to log onto the system _after_ they had physically attacked it.
