not using apt for that as well .... 

please note that none of the upgrade notes recommend [1],[2] using apt
for dist upgrades, update-manager cares for various extra bits and
breakages apt cant cope with, please dont recommend using apt
dist-upgrades to users that are not used to commandline operations.

recommending a method thats known to break will just generate a lot of
extra bug reports.
