Problems with suspend on a fresh install

I have the E1505 with nvidia card, and could not get it to resume more 
than the first time.  So, I found a thread on ubuntuforums regarding 
HOWTO fix suspend / hibernate on laptops which suggested using the 
package uswsusp.  It worked fine, even on an encrypted partition. 
Suggest you use that thread.

I was never (even with uswsusp) able to resume if I had compiz running, 
so I always killed compiz before the suspend.  Maybe this is your problem.
