netatalk not working that well

HI,

I am having a bit of trouble getting netatalk working on my ubuntu 
machine.  I have a not very exciting, default configuration.  At the 
moment this is the error when I attempt to start the daemons.  where is 
a good place to start to troubleshooting this issue?
