Huh?  Not on a default Ubuntu configuration it isn't.  How do you use "su"
if you don't have a root password.  With a default setup, you use "sudo -i"
or "sudo su" (depending whether you need a full root environment) and
explaining to a newbie how to make it so that you can use plain "su" is
neither productive, necessary, nor imo very security conscious.
