DD is not working

I run 7.04 at home and have never had a problem with dd'ing anything.

Do you have a USB or floppy disk or something else you can test dd from?

Narrow the problem among the CD/DVD drive, media, and other devices.

Is the media clean, or are there any scratches/marks?
