Oh OS X has it's roots in BSD. There is nothing wrong with it at all.
But that's the problem, it's too good. There is nothing left for me to
fiddle with!
OS X is like the perfect OS, it has good compatibility (like windows),
but the security of Linux.
For me, I like something to tinker with, something that breaks sometimes
- that's why I like Ubuntu (flamebait!? hehe!). But seriously, I find
for development that Linux is king. If I wanna start programming Ruby:
sudo aptitude install ruby -y
Wait a couple of mins, and we're ready to go!! In fact, on my feisty it
is already installed (perhaps by default?).
Right now I'm into Python, and Python 2.5+2.4 is installed by default,
already configured and working in every respect. This is what I love
about ubuntu. Also the support that you get on this list is second to
none - and that is a huge advantage in itself.
