Here are some notes that you will need when you are using ubuntu
1) Ubuntu comes with a program called "Totem". It doesnt work all that
great and doesnt play most movies and music files.
2) The Root directory is known as "\". to access it, type \ in the white
bar next to the word "search" in one of your open windows.
3) the only time that you will need to use ROOT for anything is when
your installing software. Ubuntu will prompt you for the ROOT (or admin)
password. If you are the only user of the computer, your password should
work just fine. It is not recommended that you use ROOT for day-to-day
usage as you can do catastrophic damage to your ubuntu.
