Hi Everybody!

VERY Old dog trying to learn new tricks. Is there a Brain Dead Newbie
Guidein PLAIN ENGLISH for Ubuntu Feisty
7.04 floating around anywhere?

With my very limited knowledge of op sys and hardware I'm lost. My personal
thought ... Ubuntu and the community = AWESOME!

The KDE part of it is driving me nutz. All their help files are written for
geeks and gurus, not dummies like me. I tried to d/l and install an
application. It is now lost in cyberspace (or in the invisible bits and
bytes bucket) on my HDD. I can't get any DVD player to work among other
things. Don't even know how to get into root dir. or anything else, so
please be kind to me - I freely admit I'm at the kindergarden level with
Ubuntu and Linux. After getting sick on a diet of windoze I had to do
something, and I will hang in here!

FYI (if it matters) - HW is P4, 2.66G, 3/4Gig of mem and all the usual junk
(DVD/CD Burner, 2 Gig flash card, flop and 80Gig HDD). Guess it's junk by
today's standards, but it still works!

My Thanks, and my very sincere appreciation to ALL who contribute to Ubuntu
and the lists (even when I don't have a clue what they are talking
about...... this learning curve for me is straight up the mountain side
right now)

Hank Pettigrew
