mozilla firefox file opening

Weird. I just created a file named /home/mario/Desktop/testfile" with
this content:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html>test</html>

Then I typed file:///home/mario/Desktop/testfile into the URL box and
pressed enter. The file opened fine. Same if I use the File Open dialog.

Is this what you mean doesn't work for you?
