Hi all
I have recently downloaded Feisty and joined the list to gain enlightenment
- have installed Feisty on my BenQ Joybook R31 notebook - not a fan of dual
boot systems so I did the right thing and took the windows hard drive out
first and put it somewhere safe (the trash I hear you say?) and bought a new
one - I just wanted to have some fun! Woohoo - it aint called a joybook for
nothing - ok I know some people are easily amused but I really enjoyed the
challenge of installing and configuring everything. Didn't experience the
recently reported issues with kernel upgrade and network manager btw. But I
have found Ive had to boot with noapic switch to gain usb control - in that
state wireless networking doesn't work but as I have a wired connection as
well that's no problem. As soon as Feisty is fully released I will post my
experiences to the laptop testing team at wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam
cos I don't see any entries for my notebook - don't imagine they would want
a report before the final release is out (btw what a great resource that is
if you were thinking of buying one). Anyway I just wanted to ask if anyone
reckons its likely that there may be a resolution to the usb problem down
the track so I can do usb and wireless at the same time? I found the RT2500
onboard wifi wont work with network manager but a pcmcia DLink that Feisty
calls ath0 worked with nm. Removed nm and now the RT2500 works fine but
still no usb without booting with noapic.
Cheers
Tony
