I just bought a new computer and my last linux experiences were about 2
years ago. I've chosen finally ubuntu fesity because in debian there
were strange things going on with my graphics card (some packages did
not fit to the kernel). I've also figured out some bug within the pre
release 2.6.19.x kernel when I remember right. But as I'm quite new to
linux again I was not completely sure if that was really a bug or I'm
only too stupid using ubuntu correctly. One further thing is that (as
me) many others mix up self compiled packages with ones installed from
synaptics and therefore are not sure about the source of possible bugs.
So before I report a false positive bug I just keep quiet and wait for
the next update. Everything will be fine by then.
