The method described in that link works, of course - but an easier way is
to use "gdmflexisever" to get a new login

gdmflexiserver is hidden by default in feisty, but if you edit the menu
you can make it reappear. It is under Applications- System Tools.

Why it was hidden is beyond me - for one thing it is very convenient for
people who use one computer for several users, and don't want to logout,
but rather just switch users from one to another.
