cannot get wifi working on sony vaio

I cannot get iwconfig working, I guess:

root at fluca:~# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.

Even kwifimanager does not show any interfaces!
Any idea?
