It seems my TSST CD burner is actually still
functional, but there seems to be a bug in
the libata code somewhere. Prior to kernel
2.6.20-14, my system was using the old
interface i.e. /dev/hda, /dev/hdc, etc. I
booted into the old 2.6.20-13 kernel today
because the latest update to 2.6.20-14 is
broken on my system and won't allow it to
boot. The TSST CD burner works flawlessly
using the 2.6.20-13 kernel. However, even in
2.6.20-15, which is using the libata
interface on my system, any attempt to access
the TSST burner results in the error messages
I posted in my previous message on this topic
and causes the system to reboot. So it would
appear that there is in fact a bug in the
libata code and that my CD burner will
actually still work once the bug is fixed.
Now that I know the problem I can file this
as a bug report in launchpad.
