Sane and Epson Perfection 2450 Photo scanner

I check with "apt-cache pkgnames i|grep scan",  I don't have iscan 
installed, nor do I have a 1.1 USB bus available.

I've emailed the maintainer of the USB subsystem, libusb, about this.  
I'll post any response, if I get one.
