GAIM Buddy list not working

My friend Kathy hasn't used her Gaim in a year or so, not since we upgraded
her to Edgy and now she is telling me to fix her buddy list.

A little google shows someone else is having this problem on Edgy.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Some of you may know AOL sucks and has forced gaim to be renamed.  The new
name is pidgin and the new website is http://pidgin.im/.
