Have you looked at xmodmap? the command in a terminal

 xmodmap -pke

will list every keycode for every letter. Man xmodmap explains how to 
change the keycodes (xmodmap -e "keycode ?? = ?? ".  I put a line like 
that in my .bashrc file to prevent accidental use of the cap lock.
